Article summary
CFA Level I fees depend on the exam administration and registration window. CFA Institute states that its fees are paid in US dollars and that local taxes may be added during payment. This page was checked on 7 October 2026; use the official dates-and-fees tool for the exam window you will actually select before building a final budget.
What the exam fee covers and excludes
The CFA Institute registration fee covers exam registration for the selected level and window under the applicable terms. It does not mean that every external preparation class, tutoring package or travel expense is included. Taxes may be added where required. Read the current fee page for the selected exam cycle and payment terms, including any applicable scholarship or deferral rules.
Official fee information checked 7 October 2026
- CFA Institute’s Level I product listing displayed USD 1,340 when checked.
- CFA Institute’s dates-and-fees page says cost varies by early or standard registration period and exam administration.
- The dates-and-fees page states local taxes are not included in displayed exam fees and may be added at payment.
- CFA Institute lists a program-wide estimate for all three exam levels; it should not be mistaken for the Level I price or a tuition quote.
- A CFA preparation provider’s course or materials fee is separate unless the package clearly states otherwise.
CFA Institute may change fees and registration dates. The product listing and the interactive dates-and-fees tool can reflect different windows or registration states, so do not treat a static search result as a final payable quote. Select your exam level and window on the official tool, record the date, then check the total at checkout.
How to estimate your CFA Level I budget
- Select the intended exam administration and registration period on CFA Institute’s fee tool.
- Confirm the deadline and whether standard or early registration is available.
- Add any taxes shown during registration and any card or bank conversion charges your provider may apply.
- Get a separate written quote for exam-preparation tuition, books or mock-exam packages.
- Check test-centre availability, travel needs and current rescheduling or deferral policy.
- If applying for a scholarship, read current eligibility and application dates directly from CFA Institute.
CFA fee versus CFA course fee
A search for “CFA course fees” may mean official exam registration or tuition from a prep provider. These are different charges. Ask a prep provider which levels and materials are included, whether taxes apply, and what happens if the exam curriculum changes. Centaur Careers does not offer CFA tuition or exam preparation; its current Financial Operations Masterclass is a separate programme.
Is the CFA Level I fee charged in Indian rupees?
CFA Institute states that registration fees are paid in USD. Your bank or payment provider may apply conversion and other charges; check the official checkout and your payment terms.
Does a CFA coaching fee include the CFA exam fee?
Do not assume so. Ask the prep provider for a written itemisation. CFA Institute controls its exam registration charges separately.
